Day 34 - Thursday 12th March 2015
Mt. McRae
This day is Sponsored by:
Description
Another stunning run in the area that kick-started my love affair with the NZ outdoors - the Nelson Lakes. Straight from the front door of the wonderfully hospitable Alpine Lodge in St. Arnaud, down to Lake Rotoiti and immediately into the huge, unrelenting climb to Prachute Rocks and beyond to make the main St. Arnaud Range ridge. We'll then follow this south across the untracked tops, drinking in gobsmacking views and eventually climb above the Rainbow ski field to the summit of Mt. McRae. After a steep, cross-country descent the going finally gets easier as we drop down the ski access road and warm down with a few kms along the Rainbow Road to Woolshed Flats. A classic!
Important Notes
Support runners need to be self-sufficient in regards to transport to the start and back from the finish. While we MAY be able to offer some assistance this CANNOT be guaranteed.
