The Journey
Day 32 - Tuesday 10th March 2015
Mt. Fyffe (Kaikoura)
This day is Sponsored by:
Description
I've driven past it many times, drooling at the sight of it. But I've never climbed Mt. Fyffe, the iconic peak that overlooks the township of Kaikoura. It's time to right that wrong and day will be a classic 'ridge and river' day. From about 200m at the start, a big climb will take us through the bush and out on to the open tops. It's all up to the summit and then an undulating traverse along the ridge to the north, before finally dropping to Kowhai Saddle. From here we drop down into the Hapuku valley, travelling at first on trail and then on river bed, to emerge at the northern edge of Kaikoura.
Important Notes
Support runners need to be self-sufficient in regards to transport to the start and back from the finish. While we MAY be able to offer some assistance this CANNOT be guaranteed.
