Mt. Arthur (Kahurangi NP)

Description
See Mt. Arthur on NZ topo maps
Mt. Arthur is a classic trampers' peak situated on the eastern flank of Kahurangi National Park. On a clear day from the top I've seen Mt. Taranaki (that I'll be tackling in the final week of the Challenge) on the horizon. Getting there from the start at the Flora Saddle road end involves a descent climb, but it's well worth it. Then comes the descent to the awesome Tablelands and some of my favourite trails on the planet. Nearing the end of the day we move into distinctly alpine feeling terrain, skirting Lake Peel and finally the incomparable downhill section to the Cobb Reservoir and Trilobite Hut.
Important Notes
Support runners need to be self-sufficient in regards to transport to the start and back from the finish. While we MAY be able to offer some assistance this CANNOT be guaranteed. We will be staying the night at Trilobite Hut, but unless you plan to run the next day too (a good option) you'll need to arrange a pickup from the hut - be warned, it's a long drive over Takaka Hill from where we start so make sure you have plenty of brownie points in the bank before asking your support crew for help!
