Mt. Holdsworth (Tararuas)

Description
See Mt. Holdsworth on NZ topo maps
The Tararuas are amongst the first New Zealand mountains that I ventured into, but I haven't been back there for some 20 years.
The day will start at Holdsworth Lodge and before long becomes a sustained climb of some 1200m through the bush and then across open tops to reach the summit of Holdsworth. From there it's a long downhill into Totara Creek and then bush travel down two valleys - the Waiohine and Tauherenikau - before a final climb over Puffer Saddle and a descent to Pakuratahi on SH2. From there we'll likely as not be making a mad dash for a ferry across the Cook Strait to start 30 days of South Island running and peak bagging.
Important Notes
Support runners need to be self-sufficient in regards to transport to the start and back from the finish. While we MAY be able to offer some assistance this CANNOT be guaranteed.
